#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. #GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
It’s a simple idea: whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to live in.
Giving Tuesday is a perfect day to help provide comfort and love to children living in foster care. Give a blanket. Give your time. Give a financial gift. Thank you!
1. Give a blanket.
- Purchase a fleece blanket kit for $12 (pick up) or $15 (to ship) to get all you need to make a blanket and to support our work.
- Sponsor a blanket. Donate $20 to sponsor a blanket that will be made by volunteers in senior communities and our friends living with developmental disabilities.
- Donate a quilt or knitted/crocheted blanket. Work alone or with your quilt guild or knitting group. Get blanket details here
- Host a blanket event for friends, co-workers, family. It's simple; learn how.
2. Give your time.
URGENT NEED! Volunteers who can sew are needed from late November thru mid-January to sew labels on fleece for large kit orders! Work in our workshop or at home. Email jess.mcgraw@myveryownblanket.org to volunteer.
Become a workshop volunteer – just once, once a week, once a month, or whenever you’re available. Some volunteer tasks: cut selvedges from lengths of fleece, cut fringe, fold blankets, package fleece kits, check-in donated blankets, sew on labels (you can do this at home!), print labels, cut labels, cut 1.5-yard lengths of fleece -- and more!
Email info@myveryownblanket.org or call 614-530-3327 to learn more or volunteer.

3. Give a gift.
Your financial gifts are vital to our success. They support our operating costs -- for our workshop, purchase of fabric and supplies, shipment of completed blankets, and all the other things that allow us to carry out our mission of warming the heart of every child in the foster care system.
This year on Giving Tuesday The Columbus Foundation will cover all fees for gifts made by credit card in The Giving Store, so 100% of donations will go directly to our mission.
