Our Mission
My Very Own Blanket is dedicated to warming the heart of every child and teen in the foster care system and in need with a handmade blanket or quilt, giving them a feeling of comfort, security and most of all, a SMILE.  

Globally we connect diverse people, community groups, businesses and services through this volunteer opportunity and ministry with a gift that is comforting and familiar and can take youth in foster care from one home to another.  Handmade blankets are created through the loving care of “Blanket Angel” volunteers and donated locally!  Thousands of blankets are donated each year and personalized with the child's name, a tradition for My Very Own Blanket since 1999.

The 2024 Columbus Kiwanis Charity Regatta is Complete

​Month-long on-line giving campaign:  MVOB's goal was $4,000 to represent 10% of the children that we hope to provide blankets to in 2024. MVOB finished in 6th place out of 28 teams with a total of $1,435 raised.  Many thanks to all who donated.

In-person regatta: MVOB raced valiantly but lost both of our races.  We met our new sponsor, Jeff Nygren from Thomas Fenner Woods Agency, and saw a number of organizations that receive blankets from MVOB. 
Thank you to the Thomas Fenner Woods Agency for sponsoring our yacht and making our participation in the 2024 Kiwanis Charity Regatta possible.

​Thanks for all the wonderful donations!  You are welcome to come inside to purchase kits or tags or drop off your donation, 9 am - Noon, Monday-Friday.
​Or purchase blanket kits here:  To pick up.  To be shipped to you.  Pick up inside on weekday mornings or at any time from the brown donation bin outside our workshop.
​Finished blankets (please include your name with donation) can be dropped off in the bin as well. We collect them daily.
