Our Mission
My Very Own Blanket is dedicated to warming the heart of every child and teen
​in the foster care system and in need with a handmade quilt or blanket,
giving them a feeling of comfort, security and most of all, a SMILE.  

Globally we connect diverse people, community groups, businesses and services through this volunteer opportunity and ministry with a gift that is comforting & familiar and youth in foster care can take with them from one home to another.  Handmade quilts & blankets are created through the loving care of “Blanket Angel” volunteers and donated locally!  Thousands of blankets are donated each year and personalized with the child's name, a tradition for My Very Own Blanket since 1999.
Our Vision
My Very Own Blanket is committed to putting a blanket in the hands of every youth entering foster care each year.  Beyond providing comfort, we strive to strengthen communities by raising awareness and offering connections with essential support services. Through our mission, we aim to bring warmth, stability and opportunity to those who need it most.

OSU Fisher College of Business Service Impact Day -- 1,000 Blankets!
We are very grateful for our continuing partnership with OSU. The most recent event was the Fisher College of Business Service Impact Day on November 4, 2025.  Event leaders conservatively estimate that 1,000 faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students were on-site in the Fisher Complex that day. These volunteers created 1,000 knotted fleece blankets that will be placed into the hands of children and teens in foster care and in need. Many, many thanks!

​Thanks for all the wonderful donations!  You are welcome to come inside to purchase kits or tags or drop off your donation, 9 am - Noon, Monday-Friday.
​Or purchase blanket kits here:  To pick up.  To be shipped to you.  Pick up inside on weekday mornings or at any time from the brown donation/pickup bins outside our workshop.
​Finished blankets (please include your name with donation) can be dropped off in the bins as well. We collect them daily.

We are so grateful for our partnership with UnitedHealth Care Community Plan for consistent and generous help with our shipping needs.  They help us get blankets into the hands of children in foster care, AND they help us get blanket kits to people outside Central Ohio who want to make our “no-sew” fleece blankets to deliver to children in care in their areas.  So helpful!  We are so grateful and SO THANKFUL!
