Video About Attaching Tags
Now you can order tags in Spanish or French!
We provide tags in Hindi for children in India, thanks to our partnership with Owens Corning.
Picture
Our special tags, attached to the back of each blanket, are very important. We encourage all blanket makers to sign their first name on the second line of the tag so the child knows who made the blanket just for them. We also ask blanket makers to write a short, encouraging note to the child to give each blanket even more of a personal touch.

Blanket Angels, be sure to write your name on the SECOND line on the tag and your message on the THIRD line (and at the bottom of the tag, if needed).  Please leave the TOP line blank so there is room for the child who receives the blanket to write their name.  Thanks!

Here are some ideas for notes:                                IDEAS FOR NOTES TO WRITE ON YOUR TAGS (PDF)
  • You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know.
  • You are so loved.
  • Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars!
  • Always dream big
  • No one else is you, and that is your superpower.
  • You are smart, you are kind, you are incredible!
  • With every day, you get the gift of a new beginning.
  • Never lose hope; follow your heart.
  • When there is no sunshine, be the sunshine.
  • Don’t be afraid to be yourself.
  • Just in case no one told you today, you are amazing!
  • Follow your dreams. You are loved.
  • Explore the world.
  • Dream big and reach for the stars!
  • The future is yours!
  • Today is a good day for being YOU.
  • Keep moving toward your goal. You can make it!
  • Trust the magic of new beginnings.
  • Whatever you do, do it with all of your heart.
  • You’ll never be bored when you try something new. There’s really no limit to what you can do!
  • It’s never too late to be what you might have been.
  • Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.
  • You are special and bring a unique light to people around you!
  • You make the world a better place.
  • The world needs your smile!
  • You light up this world!
  • You’re perfect just the way you are!
  • Let your smile change the world. Don’t let the world change your smile.
  • Shine in your own way.
  • Find the good in every day.
  • You're the best part of tomorrow.
  • Be your own kind of beautiful.
  • Be proud of every step you take toward your goal.
  • Leave footprints of love and kindness on every step of your journey.

At holiday times, please DON'T write holiday-themed messages on your tags.  We cannot know when a child may receive your blanket.  We want to include messages that can be comforting and appropriate no matter what the season or the child's culture may be.

Picture

While we understand your seasonal good wishes, please understand that it may be several months before your blanket makes its way into the hands of a child.

We will have to replace this tag with one with a "timeless" message.  Thank you.

IDEAS FOR NOTES TO WRITE ON YOUR TAGS(PDF)

When the child who receives the blanket writes his or her name on the tag, it will be easier for others in the foster home to identify the blanket's owner, and it increases the chance of the blanket staying with the child if they must move between foster homes.
You can see some more examples of tag messages below.   You will receive a tag already attached as part of a fleece blanket kit.

For other types of blankets, you can order tags online, to be picked up from our workshop or shipped if you live more than 30 miles from Westerville.
Picture
If you are able to sew on the tags, they are sewn on a corner of the back of the blanket, as shown in this photo, near a corner, at least 3" from both edges.  You can use a running zigzag stitch or a straight stitch, sewing no more than 1/4" in from all four edges of the tag.

In our workshop, we use invisible thread in the bobbin and white on top so that thread doesn't have to be changed to match different blankets.  However, you can use whatever color thread is appropriate.

In the video below, Jessica talks about how tags are attached.

We also have volunteers in our workshop who attach tags to completed blankets. If you live near Westerville and can return your completed blankets to our workshop, just tuck the completed tag into the finished folded blanket, and we'll take it from there!

Now you can order tags in Spanish or French!

For our friends who live in areas where Spanish or French may be the language spoken by a child in foster care, we have created special tags in those languages.  To order, just select the appropriate language on the tag order page.

We now have tags in Hindi to serve children in India
Picture
One of our founder's 2025 goals was to build a partnership creating a special tag in a 4th language!

Thanks to Steve and The Owens Corning Foundation, our special tag is printed in the Hindi language.

The Owens Corning U.S. plants in Brentwood NH, Charleston SC, Houston TX and Ocala FL will make 300 blankets, and the teams at their India plants in Dapada, Khadoi and Sayli Village in Silvassa will help finish the tags with special notes handwritten in their common language!

The school we are supporting (photos below) is the Indian Red Cross School for Special Children.  It is in Amil Village, Silvassa, India.
