We are asking our Blanket Angels to help support MVOB by sharing in the cost of creating our special tags for blankets that are not made from blanket kits (quilts, knitted or crocheted blankets, fleece purchased on your own).
You do not need to purchase tags if you are sponsoring fleece blanket kits. A tag is included, already sewn to the fleece, with each kit.

YOU WILL NEED TO SEW YOUR TAGS ONTO THE BLANKETS YOU MAKE
If you have purchased your own fleece, your special tags will need to be SEWN onto the backs of the blankets you make before they are donated.
A NOTE ABOUT SEWING TAGS ON YARN BLANKETS
Sewing a tag on a yarn blanket is a little more difficult than other types of blankets. Tags can be attached to some yarn blankets with a sewing machine. You will need to sew more slowly, and the tag does not lie perfectly flat. You can also sew the tag on by hand if that gives a better result. Either method is fine.
You don't know how to sew? Ask friends, family, neighbors or co-workers if they have a sewing machine or know how to sew. Often you will find someone who you didn't know had this talent! You can also ask your local sewing or fabric shop to help as well.

- Tags cannot be ironed on; doing this will melt the tag's ink onto your iron.
- We also discourage using glue to attach the tags. The glue will melt when the blanket is laundered and placed in a heated dryer.
- Do you know how to sew? Here is a brief video about sewing on a tag.

What's special about our tags?
Our special tags, attached to the back of each blanket, are very important. We encourage blanket makers to sign their first name on the tag and write a short, encouraging note so the child knows who made the blanket just for them and to give each blanket even more of a personal touch.
When the child writes their name on the tag, it will be easier for others in the foster home to identify the blanket's owner and increase the chances of the blanket staying with the child if they must move between foster homes.
Thank you for this additional support for our mission to provide each child in foster care with a blanket of "their very own," including a tag with their name!
