We are blessed to have the support of a number of groups of people who volunteer their time to serve children in foster care through making blankets for My Very Own Blanket. We want to highlight them and their contributions here.
The Westerville Bicycle Club (WBC) The Westerville Bicycle Club is a recreational and touring club for bicyclists of all ages and abilities. For almost four decades, the WBC has been the source of cycling pleasure for hundreds of bicyclists. They are parents and grandparents who believe in nurturing healthy development of children both physically and emotionally. They support MVOB both financially and by holding group blanket making events, like the one shown below, to help further our mission.
Columbus Mothers of Twins Club (CMOTC) This group of busy mothers of twins have worked with us for about six years to make blankets for hundreds of children in foster care. Their total for 2020 was 163 blankets!
We received this note from group leader Amanda at the end of 2020: I dropped off some blankets this weekend and I think a few more are trickling in, but I wanted to let you know that the “official” total from CMOTC is 163 blankets!! The MoMs (mothers of multiples) really rallied this year, purchased and made blankets--some as family projects!--and then dropped off at various MoM’s houses around town. Then they either brought them to me or straight to you. I wasn’t sure if we would be able to do anything this year since we aren’t meeting in person, but we MoMs know how important your work is!
We're very grateful for everything these local women have done to further our mission. Enjoy the photos below from a pre-COVID blanket-making event (and a twin blanket delivery). Thanks!
