Rose, JP Morgan Chase team member, shared her thoughts with us about an April 2025 blanket-making event hosted by the company:
Our team here at JP Morgan Chase was looking for a way to give back to our community while at the same time building relationships with one another. When My Very Own Blanket came up and I researched what you do, it touched my heart. My daughter and her husband are foster parents, and I have experienced what they and the children they take in go through. I learned what a blanket would mean to them when they just lost everything. I thought that making blankets for MVOB was an easy yet meaningful way we as a team can give back to those most vulnerable in our community. We had 40 people come together and make 70 blankets! Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in touching the hearts of those in such a stressful time in their lives. We look forward to doing this again. Here are some photos of the Blanket Angel volunteers who participated in the JP Morgan Chase event: Amanda L., pictured above with Jessica Rudolph, donating blankets she made recently, posted this story on Facebook in April:
Over the past several years, I have made it my personal goal to make #ABlanketADayInMay to give to a child in foster care through the wonderful organization My Very Own Blanket. May is National Foster Care Awareness month, and it is my way of bringing awareness to a system that I didn't know much about. I am asking my family and friends to sponsor a day by covering the $12 cost it takes to make each blanket! Let me know if you would like to be involved and I will give you more information. The $12 will go to My Very Own Blanket who will provide the material needed to make each blanket. You can give me cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal for the blankets you would like to cover and I will do the rest! Through the support of my friends and family, I have been able to complete 243 blankets over the years to give to children who do not have many things to call their own. I still remember the blanket that I carried around as a child and how much comfort it brought me, and that is the goal to bring comfort and security to those children in the foster care system. It has been a positive thing for me to focus on and connect with people over, and I hope it can bring joy to the those who receive them! MVOB Board Chair, Adam Price, and his wife Rachel have loaded their car with 50 handmade blankets and quilts to deliver to The Buckeye Ranch.
The Buckeye Ranch is a central Ohio non-profit that provides services ranging from behavioral health support to mental health counseling to foster care coordination. The Buckeye Ranch works to raise hope and provide healing for children, youth, and families in Central Ohio by providing needed services in convenient locations. |
